Good Bye 2011!

Tik Tok Tik Tok…Time really flies… With a blink of an eye, in 8 hours time the whole world will be counting down to celebrate the coming 2012 brand new year.

My heart was touched by a very meaningful quote when I read a local Chinese newspaper this morning saying “ 人生如列车， 不论有钱或无钱， 有权或无权， 不论是改变世界的伟人还是无恶不做的坏蛋， 到站了， 就得下车 ， 不容任何人恋恋不舍。时间也是， 没有人能留住一时片刻."  

“ Life is a like a train, regardless you are rich or poor, a powerful leader or without power, no matter you are the hero who have changed the word or the bad ass, when you have reached your station, you need to get off from the train. So as time, no one can stop the time. “

In 2011, several famous people have left the world as their life train has reached their final destination. Some of the them are the most brutal and notorious dictators in the world, namely

• the Libyan leader- Muammar Gaddafi (I was extremely shocked to see the final bloody moments of Muammar Gaddafi in Youtube )
• the North Korea leader- Kim Jong-il who ran the world’s most tightly controlled society. I was shocked looking the emotional scenes-many North Koreans wept, wailed, cried like hell. I doubt whether some of the North Koreans tears came from the true sadness from their heart
• the mastermind of terrorist- Osama bin Laden who was killed by US forces in Pakistan.

The saddest news for me in 2011 is one of my most respectful people- Apple founder Steve Jobs has died . As Steve Job’s death was announced, many people was shocked and saddened by this news as the world has lost an amazing human being, a visionary and creative genius.

Ok don’t talk about this sad leaving. Here comes my own recap of 2011 for myself:

Thanks god for giving me an incredible year which my family and I have managed to travel to many places with safe journey and sweet memories. We have travelled to Kota Kinabalu & Kundasang Sabah, Langkawi Island, Penang Island & Beijing, China! I have also travelled to Taiwan, Singapore and Johor to meet my friends. I think travelling is one of life’s best teachers and the best class room in the world. Some of life’s most important lessons are not academic. When you meet new people, learn new cultures and explore new places, you enrich your mind and your soul.  Hope there will be more great travelling experience for me to come! Can’t wait for it!

I’m also considered honored for having an opportunity to be the Zone 3 Chairperson under Lions Clubs District 308-A2. Being zone 3 chairperson, I have experienced many great fellowships in various divisions in Sarawak and Sabah. Getting to know many great Lions who have shared with me their knowledge and experience is also my privilege. However, of course there are also things I dislike for instance the politics behind the district.

Another sudden experience which God has given me is to have the chance to experience bone marrow aspirations.

After I came back from my best friend’s wedding in Penang somewhere in March, my legs have tiny red dots which at first I thought it was kisses given by mosquitoes. However, some bruises just popped out on my legs as well.  After consulting hematologist in the specialist hospital and going through several examinations such as bone marrow aspirations, ultrasound scanning and many blood test, I was diagnosed as Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) patient.  I’m considered as the lucky group of ITP patient as my immune system just heals by itself without the need to take any medicines.

I believe many of you have watched Korean Drama before which some of the sad drama series main actress will need to go through bone marrow aspirations to diagnose whether they are leukemia patient or not.   The pain scene sure makes you think that the bone marrow aspiration procedure is very painful. However, for me it is not painful at all. Thanks to Dr. Lau Lee Gong who is very a very experience hematologist doctor! 

Perhaps the year 2011 might consider the downturns of my career. Economy is slowing and turning down now. Hope it gets better in the year 2012!

Many more to write, sometime some things just keep in our mind..
